John Nettles Gets Honor From British Queen
John Nettles Receives Honor From British Queen

British actor John Nettles has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire following a ceremony with Queen Elizabeth II. The TV star, famed for his roles on hit 1980s show Bergerac and longrunning U.K. crime series "Midsomer Murders", was presented with the prestigious medal on Tuesday, November 9 at Buckingham Palace in London for his services to drama.

Nettles said he was honored to receive the award, joking "I've been very brave confronting so many dead bodies over the years." The award is also presented to firefighters, lifesavers and other "real-life heroes."

Nettles is set to leave his role as Detective Chief Inspector Tom Barnaby in "Midsomer Murders" in 2011 after 15 years on the program. The 67-year-old actor is also best known for his role in "Bergerac".
