Hilary Duff was stunned when her new husband proposed and handed her a massive diamond ring - because she was convinced the glittering gem was fake. The singer/actress married ice hockey star Mike Comrie in August, six months after he asked for her hand in marriage during a romantic break in Hawaii in February.
But Duff admits she had to take a closer look at ring once she accepted Comrie's proposal, because she couldn't believe such a huge stone could be real. She tells Access Hollywood, "I was kind of scared to look at (the ring)! I got a glance and it was like, 'Are you crazy? Are you kidding me? That's not real. There's no way it's real!' "
"I don't actually know (the carat size). I wasn't like, 'Now, how many carats is this?' " The ring is rumored to be worth a staggering $1 million.
